Dimerax® OB-1
Optical brightener

 Chemical name: 2.2’-(4.4’-diphenol vinyl) dibenzoxazol

DIMERAX® OB-1 is a fluorescent whitening agent based on stilbene derivatives, suitable for the optical brightening of polymers.

DIMERAX® OB-1 gives more intensity to colours and improves gloss of natural and coloured polymers: LDPE, HDPE, polypropylene, transparent and opaque rigid PVC, PVC paste, styrene homo‐ and co‐ polymers, including ABS, PBT, PET, PA, polycarbonate, polyacrylics, polyurethanes. It is recommended for the use in fibres, molded articles, films, and sheets. It can be used for the recycled polymers.

The product is applied in clear and pigmented lacquers, paints, printing inks, and in artificial leather. It is approved for plastics in contact with food.

Technical tips: The optical brightener features good compatibility with different polymers. The recommended use levels of DIMERAX® OB-1 range between 0.01‐0.03% in pigmented and 0.0002‐0.005% in uncoloured polymers, depending on performance requirements of the end product and processing conditions. For the best result, it is desirable to apply DIMERAX® OB-1 in a variety of blends with processing‐, heat‐ and light stabilizers.
